With rising Covid-19 cases should wearing a face mask be the new normal?

The latest figures released by the Office for National Statistics show that the estimated number of people testing positive for coronavirus in the UK is up by 32% week-on-week.

The latest rise is driven by two new fast-spreading sub-variants of Omnicron – BA.4 and BA.5.
Whilst jabs are helping to protect against serious illness, people can be infected even if they have had Covid before.

The BBC has reported that the number of people in hospital with Covid across the UK has now exceeded 10,000, up by around 2,500 in a week.
